Niko Kari’s first weekend as a Formula 2 -driver taught an young talent a lot. The main thing was to gather as much experience as possible for the last weekend of the season.
The rising Finnish star Niko Kari makes his Formula 2 debut this weekend at Russia. Kari jumps in to the the most important feeder category of Formula 1 in Russian race weekend at Sochi.
Niko Kari managed to snatch point at Monza, Italy. MP Motorsport’s Finnish driver had the pace for better results, but bad luck and fellow colleague’s mistake took away the great opportunity.

Niko Kari has set his aim as a professional race car driver very high. The target is clear: to be the next Flying Finn in Formula !
The young Finn’s CV shows there is changes to make the dream come true. Ever since he first time climbed in the steering wheel of a go-kart, the speed was undeniable there.
After successful karting years Kari went on to race his first season with Formula cars, when he joined NEZ F4 series in 2015. The results were breathtaking: Sevens wins and 19 podiums from 21 races underlined Kari’s talent.
Now part of the Red Bull Junior Academy, Kari continued his path to Euro Formula 3 -series. Season gave one victory at Imola, and 2nd place in the high-ranked Masters of Formula 3 -race. Five other podiums were also season’s total tally.
Another year, another step closer to F1. In season 2017 Kari joined GP3 series. The second highest feeder category to F1 gave Kari the ultimate prize at Abu Dhabi. Kari took the chequered flag first in Feature race, being the only “non-ART driver” to do so in whole year. That was once again a clear statement of his skills.
2018 Kari joined MP Motorsport to race another season in GP3, but in the final moment of the season he step up to Formula 2 series. The dream is still there, very much alive and kicking!
Kari’s special abilities as a driver are his race starts and wet weather skills. Courage and “Finnish Sisu” make sure Kari is the last driver to give up.
In his spare time Kari likes to exercise his physics in various ways. Ice hockey is really close to his heart. Also fishing and hunting are important ways to relax, which helps Kari to develop as a better driver.
