Niko Kari drove in points at Monza
Niko Kari managed to snatch point at Monza, Italy. MP Motorsport’s Finnish driver had the pace for better results, but bad luck and fellow colleague’s mistake took away the great opportunity.
Kari’s pace was good the whole weekend. At qualifying he was 10th fastest, which gave him a great change to fight for the points. There was a room for even better lap, but getting behind slower car ruined last time lap.
On Saturday’s race Kari was given 5 seconds time penalty for leaving the track and gaining advantage. In reality Kari was forced to go wild to avoid contact with other car.
In final results Kari was tenth, which gave him one point.
Sunday’s sprint race started magnificently, but then other driver turned into Kari and took away Finn’s front wing.
After the pit stop Kari stormed up the field, showing he had the speed to race even for victories.
Unfortunately the race ran out too soon for Kari. At chequered flag he was 12th.
– I had bad luck with other cars this weekend. I couldn’t have done anything else to avoid those incidents. The speed is there, and that is encouraging, Kari told after the race.
